These things have to be kept in mind
One important thing to be understood here is that change in the boarding point of the counter ticket will be allowed only till the chart is prepared. If the boarding station is changed within 24 hours of the departure of the train, no refund will be given under normal circumstances, however, in exceptional circumstances like cancellation of train, coach not being added, train being delayed by more than three hours, normal Refund rules will apply. According to IRCTC, if the boarding station has been changed at the time of booking, passengers can change the boarding station once more.
Another thing to note is that if a passenger has changed the boarding station, he will lose all rights to board the train from the original boarding station. If found traveling without proper authorisation, the passenger will have to pay fare including penalty between the original boarding station and the changed boarding station. If no seat berth booking has been made, change in boarding point of counter ticket will not be allowed through this functionality. In such a situation, you will have to go to the nearest railway counter.
