Through the Vistara-Air India merger, Singapore Airlines has acquired a 25.1 percent stake in the new integrated airline. Now the operation is completely integrated under Air India.

Full service carriers reduced from five to one in 17 years
According to the news, however, airline officials said that although Vistara will be closed from November 12, its aircraft, routes and crew will continue to serve till at least March. With Vistara merging with Air India on November 11, the number of full service carriers in India has dropped from five to one in the last 17 years. This change has happened after the liberalization of foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in 2012. This led to the establishment of Vistara and other foreign-invested airlines.
What will happen to travel insurance?
If you had already purchased travel insurance at the time of booking with Vistara, it will remain valid even while traveling by Air India flight. Additionally, if you have an existing booking with Vistara for travel on or before 11 November 2024, there will be no impact or change to your booking. For travel after November 12, 2024, flights will be operated by Air India. The airline has already closed bookings for travel on Vistara from November 12, 2024.
